The beginnings of Backwoods Cabins in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire is a little fuzzy sometimes at how we arrived here. My husband and I were living in Charlestown, RI at the time and had always loved New Hampshire. A friend of ours was relating to us how he had some property in Twin Mountain and was going to sell it. At the time, I'm not sure we even really knew where Twin Mountain was until he explained to us that it is the same town that the Mt. Washington Hotel is in. We came up to look at the property and told him we'd be interested. Little did we know that the property we thought we were buying was actually on the opposite side of the road. All in all, it still worked out fine and his lots were actually better than the ones we mistakenly looked at.
At some point my husband and I decided to leave Rhode Island behind and move to New Hampshire. We decided to build a second home and use it for vacation rentals. We teamed up with Lynn Lassonde from Katahdin Cedar Log Homes. We used a local builder and the result was a 1500 sq. foot log home that included four bedrooms and two bathrooms. In January, 2008 we were officially up and running for business taking in guests from the United States and Canada so far.
We continue to try to make it a private little retreat adding a fire pit in the back yard and plans to put in horse shoe pits at the beginning of this summer. Our hope is that it will be a place that everyone who visits will claim as their own.
